๐Ÿ’ก Taiwan Food Pro Tips

๐Ÿ• Timing matters

Night markets peak 7โ€“10pm. Breakfast spots open 5amโ€“noon only. Popular stalls sell out โ€” arrive early.

๐Ÿ’ต Cash is king

Most street food and night market stalls are cash only. NT$500โ€“1000 per person per meal covers most spots.

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Spice levels

Taiwan food is milder than mainland Chinese. "Spicy" (่พฃ, lร ) means something. Always ask ไธ่พฃ (bรน lร ) if you want none.

๐Ÿฅข Ordering without Mandarin

Point at the menu, hold up fingers for quantity. Most places near tourist areas have photo menus or English.

๐Ÿง‹ Bubble tea order

50% sugar, 70% ice (ไบ”ๅˆ†็ณ–ไธƒๅˆ†ๅ†ฐ) is a good starting point. Full sugar is very sweet. Half ice keeps it cold longer.

๐ŸŸ Oyster omelette

่šตไป”็…Ž (รด-รก-chian) โ€” gooey sweet potato starch base, oysters, egg, red sauce. The gooeyness is intentional. Shilin version is larger.
